    Alert Mode Set Up

    We're trying to figure out the best way to set up the Alert Mode for our 9 channel players. There seems like a lot of options and I don't know if we should be grouping or using sperate alert playlists or the same alert playlist for each channel player. I also noticed that we can create different play modes within the content settings in AxisTV, but when I go to System Tools -> Change Modes-> the new play modes we entered aren't given as an option to choose.

    What are other people doing to administer the Alert Mode?

     I dont use the alert mode but i'm pretty sure I know how it works.  So say you have the 9 channel players each on a seperate playlist running in normal mode.  What you can do is create alert bulletins for each player telling the people where the closest exit is located from that player.  So you would schedule each bulletin to run in the alert mode of that playlist that the player is running.  This way when you have an alert you just change the mode the system is running in from normal to alert and all the players change to play what is the alert mode for that playlist automatically.  If all players are running the same playlist then you would have to create basic alert bulletins telling people to find the closest exit and to listen to whoever for instructions and so forth since each player is in a different place you cannot tell them exactly where the exit is since another player somewhere else will be displaying the same information.

    Thanks JDiller,

    The problem that I forsee is that there might be different emergency messages for different situations. In which case, the user would have to not only change to Alert Mode, but also determine which playlist is the most appropriate. Duck and Cover or Exit Immediately...

    Our college website posts all emergencies, campus closures etc on the home page. I'm wondering if there is a way to get a feed from that posting so that the Alert Mode would reflect whatever is being posted on the home page...

     What you can always do is have bulletins already created for each situation and when it comes for that time just schedule the correct bulletin to the playlist for whatever the situation is.

    I'm not sure about how to get the feed from the website though.  Maybe try creating an RSS feed since AxisTV can get RSS feeds, i'm not really sure how RSS feeds work though.  Also maybe try using the graphic link bulletin creation in some way but i'm not sure how your information is displayed on your website.

     The AxisTV RSS plugin is RSS 2.0 compliant and the following tags must be present:

    <title> or <link>
    <description>
    <pubdate>
