Putting the “Dynamic” into Dynamic Visual Messaging (DVM)

At TEi, we talk a lot about Dynamic Visual Messaging or DVM technologies. We guide our customers toward “dynamic” communications because the more interesting your messages are, the more successful your digital signage efforts will be.

Three easy ways to add punch to your communications are:

► Creating Text Crawls with Color

► Using Cell Animation

► Including Graphic Links

Each of these features of our AxisTV software allow you to be more creative in your visual communications without having specialized graphics knowledge or external software.

Creating Text Crawls with Color

Text crawls are popular with AxisTV users for delivering up-to-date news, weather and stock information, as well as simple text messages. Get creative with your crawls by adding color to the crawl text and/or background.

Use colors for emphasis or to alert viewers to specific subject matter categories. For example, change your crawl background to red and text to yellow for alert notices, with black and white as the default for standard communications.

The user-friendly AxisTV GUI menu guides you through the process in just

a few seconds. Three simple clicks allow you to set text color and/or background colors: Menu – System | Content Settings | Crawlists.

Using Cell Animation

AxisTV users can add animation without special skills or added software.

Using the basic “Create Text Bulletin” tools, you can create a series of bulletins to give the illusion of animation. More advanced animation can be simulated by creating bulletins in the Free Form section.

Graphic artists can have fun with this feature, but you don’t have to have any special training to animate your messages. The ease of AxisTV menus allow cell animations to be created, scheduled and displayed within minutes.

  1. Select a common background and create your first bulletin

  2. Once finished, click the “Group” button

  3. Select the same background for each of the subsequent bulletins, but change the text in each

  4. Select “Group” after each bulletin is completed

  5. Click “Next” after you create the last bulletin

  6. Schedule and deliver your animation

  7. The visual effect during playback creates the illusion of animated (changing) text on the same background

Graphic Links

Automatically fetch new images every hour, every minute or anything in between with the AxisTV optional graphic link plug-in. Popular applications include weather charts, traffic updates and stock price indicators.

Grab images from any of the following:

  • Web (http)

  • Secured web (https)

  • FTP (ftp)

  • Passive FTP (ftp)

  • File Share (\\server\share\dir)

The plug-in supports common image formats and gives you the option to preserve your graphic's native aspect ratio and select backgrounds as mattes (or else black bars may appear) .

Creating and scheduling a graphic link is just as easy as a simple text bulletin – just create, schedule and deliver along with your other communications. The menu path is simple: Menu – Bulletins | Create External Graphic.

Utilizing these and other user-friendly features of AxisTV, you can be creative without adding much time or training to burden your communications staff.
